Mathematics Department was established in the year 1990. Abstract concepts are explained in a lucid language such that comprehension is assured and easily understood by all sections of student community. Efforts are made to ensure that the students feel that learning Mathematics is an enjoyable experience. Develop skill sets so that students are confident to solve extra work assigned to them on their own. To overcome the difficulties faced by non-mathematics students in BBA and BCA courses - Bridge course classes are engaged to highlight the concepts required for the present syllabus and also for B.Sc students in the beginning of each semester.

Student centric activities:

  • Activities like puzzle, cross word, poster making, essay, dumb charades, typing equations in equation editor, quiz , lecture competition, street play, science exhibition, documentary show etc are conducted under Science Forum-Scientia
  • Final year students attended workshop on “Cryptography through Mathematics” at Science College on 8/2/2019
  • National Mathematics day is celebrated every year on 22nd December-Online quiz competition on 22/12/2020
  • Pi–Day celebrated every year on 14th March- Final year students demonstrated how to find the value of Pi by “Monte Carlo method” on13/3/2020
  • Visit to IISc., on Open day every year

  • Conventional chalk and talk method
  • Practicals using Scilab, Maxima and Python
  • ICT teaching- Subject related YouTube videos, Power point presentation, Zoom, Google forms, Google meet, Google class room etc.,

Extension Activity:

Every year Department organizes "International Chinthana Mathematics   Exam in co-ordination with ChinthanaPrakashana, Chitradurga.

  • The objective of this program is to cultivate thinking ability, reading habit, curiosity, creativity and competitive spirit among the students.

  • Navyasri J of III B.Sc has participated in Division level Maths Quiz Competition organized by KSTA and won third prize with cash award of RS.1500/-
